Giving Back to South Hills
Our South Hills, PA Branch is committed to supporting the communities in which we live and work by volunteering our time and using our resources. Our ongoing commitment to building relationships in the community and empowering associates to get involved is central to our culture at Baird and our team.
We've engaged with several outstanding organizations, some of which are listed below.
Gratitude Run
The Gratitude Run is dedicated to fostering a spirit of unity and compassion through our unwavering commitment to supporting families in the community. The mission is to cultivate a sense of togetherness and gratitude by organizing annual runs that not only promote a healthy lifestyle, but also serve as a platform to raise funds and resources for local families in need.
Special Olmpics Law Enforcement Torch Run
The Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) is a global movement led by law enforcement officers and dedicated volunteers to support Special Olympics. Founded in 1981, LETR has grown into the largest public awareness and fundraising initiative for Special Olympics worldwide.
Its mission is simple yet powerful: to carry the Flame of Hope, symbolizing courage and inclusion, and raise funds that provide year-round sports training and competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Through events like the Torch Run, Polar Plunge®, and other community activities, LETR promotes acceptance, respect, and opportunity for all.
The Summer Fade Away
The Summer Fade Away Festival is a fun, family friendly event that is held annually in support of the Autism Caring Center,
a nonprofit dedicated to providing advocacy, education, and resources for families affected by autism. Every dollar raised helps fund programs that empower children and their families, offering guidance, training, and a network of support to improve quality of life.
Founded by a local family inspired by their own autism journey, the festival combines fun and purpose—creating an inclusive space where everyone can celebrate, connect, and contribute to a cause that truly matters. By attending, you’re not just enjoying a great day—you’re helping build a stronger, more compassionate community.
MArtha Ride
In 1994 Special Agent Martha Dixon Martinez was shot and killed in the line of duty. The Martha Ride is a 5 day bike trip that starts in Washington D.C. and culminates at Pittsburgh FBI Field Office in the South Side to honor the memory of Martha and to her fallen law enforcement brothers and sisters. The goal of the fund is to endow local parks and playgrounds in an effort to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the community.
The Uncathalon
The UNcathalon
The UNcathlon is a unified decathlon-like event where teams compete alongside Special Olympics Athletes to accrue points in physical events. Since it’s creation the UNcathlon has raised almost $500,000 to benefit Special Olympics of Pennsylvania provide medical, social and physical support to individuals with intellectual disabilities to over 16,000 participants across the state.
The George benson scholarship
The George Benson Scholarship is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, established in 2009 by the membership of South Hills Country Club to honor their fellow member, as befits his love of golf. The Scholarship is open to students who have demonstrated a connection to the game of golf through their athletic achievement, academic interest, or employment. The Scholarship is currently valued at up to $2,000 annually, with a maximum of $8,000 over 4 years. Since its inception, 24 students have received $157,000.00 in total aid. The primary source of fund raising is the George Benson Classic which is hosted by South Hills Country Club. The event is a Pro-Am that continues the tradition of serving as the richest single day tournament purse on the Tri-State PGA schedule.
Baird Gives Back
Many Baird associates team up during Baird Gives Back Week, an event held annually in the spring, to serve local community organizations that are in need of help. In 2024, associates donated nearly 6,500 volunteer hours to help support non-profit organizations and individuals across the firm’s global footprint.
